Let’s just start this off by saying no one is poking fun at anyone else. We got that? Good.
Some folks in Toronto have organised a sex party in August and it has been labelled the ‘first accessible orgy for people with disabilities’. The event is called Deliciously Disabled and will be a masquerade ball that also features a sex toy workshop and, for those who wish, the chance to engage in some group sex. One of the organisers, Andrew Morrison-Gurzam, quoted here on Huffington Post:
You can call it a massive orgy, play party, sex-romp, or whatever you want. You can suggest that tax payer funds are funding a swingers event. That’s all well and good, but let’s be honest for one second about what the event is actually about. Over and above the media hype, that is salivating over the buzz word, this event is about providing access to People living the experience of disability to be part of an experience they are so often denied. This event is about putting disability and agency over one’s body at the forefront…
I am quite a sexual person, but getting access to that can be difficult. The biggest thing we’re trying to accomplish is to raise awareness in a fun and sexy way
Entrance to the August 14 event will cost $20 and take place in a theatre that holds 125 people. Hydraulic lifts will be be provided and organisers hope to put across the message that sexual freedom should not be limited to the able-bodied only.
Good work Canada, we like the way you think.
