Oh boy, Pistol and Boo are still making headlines in Australia, the land of Border Security and Summer Heights High. You’ll remember how Johnny flew the pooches in via private jet and evaded security, and how they were sentenced to death by that charming bloke Barnaby Joyce.
Since then, the two Yorkshire Terriers have been taken back to the US so that they are not killed, so you can let the relief wash over you.
Aus is still causing a stink about it, though.
Now Depp could “face up to ten years in prison or a maximum fine of $340 000” for his unruly border behaviour. Above that, Depp’s pilot could be jailed for up to two years for his role in the illegal importation.
Agriculture Department officials in Australia have “presented themselves at Parliament House” and a full follow up has begun to determine how the dogs were let into the country.
Customs officers did not find the terriers when they boarded the aircraft before the passengers disembarked. The dogs were only discovered and apprehended after they became “film stars on Facebook”. This occurred after Pistol and Boo visited a dog grooming salon.
If you’ve every watched Border Security you’ll understand just how terrified the continent is of anything strange getting in, heaven forbid two little furry pups.
The good news is that Depp can afford the $340 000 fine.
