Yesterday saw reports that the family of Trevor Noah had suffered a tragedy, with cousin Cebisile Happiness Khoza being murdered earlier in the month and laid to rest over the weekend. The Sunday Times reported that Noah’s grandmother, 88-year-old Nomalizo Noah, was present at the funeral service and spoke of a family curse in the wake of a number of incidents.
First to rebuff the reports was Trevor himself, tweeting this out to his followers:
Now it is the turn of Nomalizo, quoted here on News24:
They are just creating stories out of – [nowhere] now they want to use Trevor and I on their front pages? It’s silly…
Just now my kids called me saying ‘Send those reporters away! Don’t speak to them anymore because they are writing lies’…
I am so sick of reporters because they interview me about one thing, and then in the papers they write something else. I am tired of these reporters. Give me a break, please give me some space. I am sick and tired.
The Sunday Times have yet to comment on the developments. It looks like someone never did their homework properly, something we knows angers grannies the world over.
