Really KFC, someone needs to have a serious chat with your employees about safe food preparation practices.
Following hot on the heels of the pictures of staff at the Braamfontein KFC rinsing chicken whilst it lay on the floor, their less than hygienic practices have been exposed once more. News24 reports:
…a cook from an Umhlanga outlet was filmed allegedly “sharpening” knives on a pavement next to a bin.
Ashrana Chanderanberg who uploaded the video clip to [a restaurant review] Facebook group said “This is what happens every morning @KFC Coastlands Umhlanga….We residence [sic] off Horizon view and Ridgeton Towers back of KFC Coastlands instead of awakening to the smell of KFC we awaken by this agonizing sounds of sharpening knives….”
The video is rather poor quality (I recommend setting your YouTube video to the maximum quality for this one), but if you look closely you can still make out the figure of the cook hunched over the pavement.
Whilst the official response from the fast-food chain after the first scandal was swift they seem to be dragging their heels on this one:
KFC Manager Cookie Naik said she knew nothing about the alleged practice or the video, before deferring comment to KFC head office.
Repeated attempts to obtain comment from KFC’s corporate headquarters were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
I don’t imagine this is what Colonel Sanders had in mind when he declared his food ‘finger licking good’.
Drink responsibly this weekend guys and girls, you really don’t want to wake up with half a Zinger meal lying next to your bed.
