We reported last week that the house where the Van Breda family were butchered to death with an axe is for sale. Would you want to live there, knowing what happened?
Well, it looks like the demand for property at De Zalze Golf Estate is high and people are very willing to look past the murder.
On the market for R6.2 million, the house has been viewed several times, with a few offers coming in, says family spokesman Ben Rootman. The 364m² house has four-bedrooms, a splash pool, state-of-the-art kitchen and two garages.
Property consultant Erwin Rode has said that he doesn’t think the murder will affect the sale of the house. It is rather nice looking, after all, and situated on a golf course.
They can clean it up. My first reaction is it probably won’t affect the value.
Family members and trustees of the deceased’s estate decided to sell the home. Marli is currently staying with friends and Henri is with other family in Klerksdorp. The mood at De Zalze is still one of “what happened?”, with everyone worried about Marli’s recovery.
Of course there’s this interest in Marli. She’s a special girl to a lot of us who knew them and her recovery is something that everybody really wants to see and for her to have a happy life.
Because of her injuries, she still has not been able to recall the events of January 24th.
