This might sound like something you would expect to read in The Sun, but it appears we have a real life medical miracle on our hands.
In a turn of events that seem to be taken from the Jerry Springer vault, a father has been told to pay paternity for one of the twins born to a woman he did the deed with. The Telegraph reports:
A judge ruled on Monday in a paternity case that the man from whom the twins’ mother sought child support has to pay for only one of the children. A DNA test showed that he was almost certainly the father of one twin but wasn’t the father of the other…
[This] can happen when the woman has sexual intercourse with two men in the same menstrual cycle and two of her eggs are fertilized separately by each man.
This is only the third known court case in the US of its kind. During her testimony the woman said she had slept with both men in the course of a week, thus making it possible for her now two-year-old twins to have different fathers.
So what does child support for one twin cost in the state of New Jersey? A princely $28 a week, so if he defaults on that payment we can definitely expect some classic Jerry Springer trailer-trash brawling to occur.
