Another twist in the murder case that is gripping the nation, this time to do with Jayde Panayiotou’s husband’s involvement.
The latest news is that husband Christopher actually put out a hit on his wife. This from News24:
It is believed that the man [Christopher] had taken out a substantial hit on Panayiotou.
While the amount has not been confirmed, it is believed to be in the region of R80 000.
He was arrested in Uitenhage while apparently dropping off an additional amount of money to one of the men he had allegedly hired to kill her.
Below is the story as we ran it earlier.
As the country continues to mourn the loss of Jayde Panayiotou, the 28-year-old teacher found murdered in Uitenhage, some more information has come to light and it makes for pretty shocking reading.
Two suspects have been taken into custody, with one being Thando Siyoli, but it is the identity of the second suspect that has people taken aback. Here’s TimesLive:
…the other [is] her husband, Christopher.
Sources have told The Herald that Panayiotou’s husband had been arrested and would appear in court on Monday May 4.
…he is expected to be charged with murder and abduction.
Wow, that comes out of left field. Here’s what Christopher said in a moving tribute to his wife at Monday’s funeral:
Jayde is not gone; she is everywhere. Jayde resides in the wind like an elemental force. She can be experienced in the blooming of flowers; she is the yellow in daffodils of her favourite flower. She is the crest in every breaking wave, she is the fertile soil; she is the enduring embers of the fire…
Today should not be one of sadness, although her passing is truly tragic, it should be a celebration of life for one of God’s greatest creations.
There will be many questions asked in the coming days. For the sake of all concerned let’s hope the police get to the bottom of this one quickly.
