Can you actually believe that YouTube has been around for ten years? I use YouTube so much that it feels like it has been a part of my life forever, so when I hear ten, I feel like it’s so short a time. Can anyone even count the amount of videos on the site? It’s quite phenomenal.
Yesterday was the tenth birthday for Jawed Karim, Steve Chen and Chad Hurley’s video-sharing website. Of course, the first video they ever posted has gone viral do to a #TBT on their Facebook page.
Look, the video is pretty basic and is a far cry from what we see on YouTube today, but that’s the whole point. It’s a place where anyone can share videos about anything. We all remember Charlie Bit My Finger and Stalking Cat, we all have searched for the Friends bloopers and whether we liked it or not we watched Gangham Style, because how else would it have over 2.3 billion views.
The very first video was posted by Jawed on April 23 2005 and in the clip he talks about the elephants at the San Diego Zoo.
Please enjoy.
