Oh Kanye, no one can deny that you have the ability to take over the internet without having to do very much. Kim might have attempted to break it with her backside, but Kanye opens his mouth and headlines roll straight out.
TIME magazine recognised that fact when they put him on the cover of their ‘100 most influential people’ edition. Dignitaries were then treated to a ‘performance art-infused 20 minute set’ at the gala honouring those named in the magazine, a brief snippet of which you can see above. Here’s TIME:
Bathed in an orange-yellow light and flanked by several half-naked black men dressed in rags and white chalk, West took the stage to James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”…
He closed out his set with a few of his older favorites (sic)…but stopped “Touch the Sky” midway and asked everyone in the audience to get on their feet before he continued. If getting world leaders, tech innovators and business moguls to bounce up and down isn’t a sign of influence, what is?
True dat, brother man. Kanye also sat down for a frank interview with the folks at TIME and as always didn’t mince his words.
Sorry Kanye, I know we have plenty of fun at your expense but sometimes you just make it too easy. Well played on making the cover by the way, you’ve earned it.
