Cocaine trafficking must be pretty lucrative work, but I don’t imagine there is much down time to relax when you are carrying over two tonnes of the nose candy aboard the boat you are sailing.

French authorities hit the motherload when they searched a boat off the coast of Martinique, a French Caribbean island. The boat was falsely flying an American flag, and the subsequent search yielded the monster find. CNN reports:

The drugs, whose value is estimated at more than $105 million, are the biggest cocaine seizure ever carried out by French authorities, said Michael Lachaux, director of customs operations in Martinique…

Officers arrested one Venezuelan and two Spanish citizens who were on board the vessel off the coast of Martinique…

The bust was so large that the amount of cocaine seized represents more than a third of the amount the French customs seized during the whole of 2014.

Somewhere out there is a very, very angry drug lord. The smugglers seized aboard the boat might just hope they get locked up somewhere for a rather long time. It probably isn’t all that safe on the outside.
