Finally some good news for all Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear fans after what has been a rather torrid last few weeks – the Top Gear Live world tour will still go ahead.
In order to achieve what the BBC hopes will be a sensible resolution, the show will feature no BBC branding, no Stig and be renamed Clarkson, Hammond and May Live. This from the Daily Mail:
A BBC Worldwide spokesman said they will fulfil the series of gigs which have already sold 200,000 tickets worldwide – but added that the shows will be stripped of all BBC branding and content and billed as Clarkson, Hammond and May Live.
That means the shows, which will take place in venues as far afield as Australia, Norway, and South Africa as well as the UK, will not be able to use clips from the show or feature The Stig.
Of course this has fuelled rumours that the team buyamoxil-amoxicillin.com/buycheapcipro.html intend to carry on as a threesome, although sources close to the tour are saying it is more a case of fulfilling their duties to the fans.
In other news sure to paint some Top Gear fans as idiots, police are currently investigating threats made on the life of BBC director-general Tony Hall (pictured above) in the wake of sacking Clarkson. The Daily Mail again:
The Mail on Sunday reported that the director-general and wife Cynthia have been under 24-hour guard since the threat was received.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: ‘Police in Westminster are investigating an allegation of threats to kill.
‘The allegation was reported to police on Wednesday March 25. Inquiries continue. No arrests have been made.’
I understand that for lovers of all things car-related it doesn’t get better than Top Gear but really now, threatening another man’s life? Sounds like someone has been watching too much Jeremy Clarkson.
