Some people really do have more money than sense and others, like the man nicknamed ‘Money’ himself, seem to have very little sense but more change than they will ever manage to plough through.
Floyd Mayweather has never been shy of flashing the cash but the amount he is paying his personal chef in the lead-up to his fight against Manny Pacquiao beggars belief. This from TimesLive:
The boxer is paying a Las Vegas-based chef named Chef Q $184,000 (just over R2.2 million) to cook for him up until May 2, when he fights Manny Pacquiao…
This works out to be $4,000 a day. Chef Q says she does not normally charge that huge amount, but Floyd believes her dishes were worth that much.
I don’t know about you but if I’m paying that amount of cash I’m going to want seriously tasty chow. Mayweather also splashed out on a pen with which to sign the contract that gives the world the fight it has been waiting for, with the Peerless 125 by Cross setting him back a cool R48 000.
If you’re wondering how he affords such a lavish lifestyle it’s worth remembering that he stands to make around $100 million from this one fight alone (and even more if you believe certain reports). Yes, a fight that will probably last around 30 minutes is set to net each fighter over R1 billion.
Who’s the fool now, right?
