If you came here hoping for a weird story about some kind of human fossil being discovered and brought back to life you’re in the wrong place. The closest thing we can offer you is THIS story of a 200-year-old meditating monk, which is about as ‘out there’ as you will find.
The 400 year celebration in question is that of Grolsch, the Dutch beermasters who first dished out their tasty ales in 1615. Now you don’t last that long unless you are offering something particularly delectable and to celebrate their legacy Grolsch created a master mural using their iconic Swingtop bottles.
Folks in Shoreditch, East London (that’s the British London, not the Eastern Cape town known for lifeguards and teenage mothers) were in for an eyeful as a collective of street artists called ‘Graffiti Lite’ flexed their creative muscle. Using various street art techniques including yarn-bombing, sticker art, paste ups, stencils, urban gardening and painting the artists created the iconic piece.
Yep, 400 of Grolsch’s iconic Swingtop bottles hung on a huge master piece mural of that same signature bottle, and all of them placed on the wall in an exact timing of 400 minutes. Lekker.
So what else do they have in store for this rather important celebration? How about ‘limited-edition 400-year anniversary packs of Grolsch featuring designs from 400 artists, celebratory point-of-sale merchandise in pubs, and a display of the full range of artwork on the brand’s birthday, May 11th.’
Also if anyone starts singing 400 bottles of beer on the wall we will need to have serious words. You’re better than that.
