Now when you take a bunch of technophiles from around the world and cram them into Austin, Texas you can be sure Tinder is going to get a solid working over. How brilliant, then, of these marketers to troll the app with a sneaky little promotion for their new movie.
The movie in question is Ex Machina, a sci-fi thriller starring Swedish actress Alicia Vaikander. So what did these guys do with a few pics of Alicia? Over to Mashable:
Using photos of Vaikander from the film, the crafty marketers appeared to have created a Tinder bot that asked hopeful swipers questions about what makes a person human, where they would like to meet and what attracts them to Ava.
After answering the questions, the user was directed to an Instagram account promoting the film.
If you guessed she would be very attractive you win a gold star. The film debuted at SXSW over the weekend, although neither Tinder nor A24 Films were available for comment on the marketing campaign.
Next time you’re talking to someone on Tinder and their responses seem somewhat generic be wary, perhaps you are falling victim to a Tinder bot. Then again, it’s just as likely some idiot casting a wide net to see what they pull in.
