Those of us who spend most of our day nattering away on a keyboard have probably noticed a slight decline in the quality of our handwriting. After all, how much of what we do at the moment entails writing out large bodies of text when we have technology like laptops, iPads and smart phones at every turn?
Now the process of writing out all those heartfelt thank you notes post-wedding has become a lot easier thanks to the folks at New York City-based startup Bond. This from Time:
[Bond] instructs customers to send in a writing sample. Calligraphers who work at the company help digitize the handwriting in part by hand-tracing the letters. From there, Bond’s pen-wielding robots can convert typed-out notes into physical letters written on stationery the customer selects.
Once the robots have done your dirty work, Bond will then send out your notes to the recipients requested. I’m not sure if their turnaround time is quick enough to help out insubordinate students forced to write out 100 lines of ‘I must not pick my nose and flick it at the teacher’, but we like the concept nonetheless.
