Right, best you be careful where you take the family for Sunday dinner from now on because the spate of mall robberies has just taken a left turn into restaurants.
The Spur in the Tyger Valley Shopping Centre (in what some people consider Cape Town) was hit by a gang of guys brandishing guns and other weapons on Sunday night. They had originally attempted to enter Panarottis but had to make do with the Spur upstairs. The men then started robbing Spur staff and guests.
A staff member, who had remained hidden, had alerted that centre’s security personnel who then called the police.
The men got away with R9 000, an iPad and a phone, and got involved in a shoot-out in the car park – no one was injured, thankfully.
This whole mall robbery situation is now completely out of hand. How can you not even take the kids out for a creme soda float on the weekend? It’s just not fair (yes, yes, dad, I know, life’s not fair…).
