He may still be ticking along at the ripe old age of 90 (thanks to his strict health regime) but there are those who will argue that Robert Mugabe’s senses took a walk quite some time ago.
We all know Bob is no fan of the evil western world, but is he really Africa’s best option as chairman of the African Union? Foreign policy aside the man has ruled over a country brought to its knees by his grossly inept handling of affairs, all the while leading a lavish lifestyle on the side with scant regard for his people.
Mugabe has some ambitious plans for when he rules the roost. This from Eyewitness News:
The Zimbabwean president’s spokesman George Charamba told state television in that country that Mugabe is unhappy with the way the AU has, in his view, been bending its policies to suit the west.
He said the president wanted to change that and make the AU a leader on the global stage.
Quite how our continent will become a leader on the global stage when Bob despises most of the world’s superpowers remains to be seen.
