The football fans amongst us will know there is generally little love lost between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. It’s not that Ronaldo hates Messi, it’s just that if he didn’t exist the Portuguese star would have had seven successive Ballon d’Ors rather than the three he sits with now.
How refreshing then to see the above video of Cristiano Jr. in awe of Messi at Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, which in layman’s terms is where the best player of the year is named.
Whilst I can’t understand a word, Mashable has this to say:
Messi warmly greets the boy with a pat on the head and asks him how he’s doing…
“He watches a video online, of all of us, and he talks about you,” Ronaldo then tells Messi from afar.
But Cristiano Jr. seems too awestruck to respond. “And now you’ve gone shy?” Messi jokes before the boy returns to his father.
We’re pretty sure Ronaldo watches those videos to learn a trick or two from the Argentinian maestro, but good cover up brother.
Also if you missed Ronaldo’s acceptance speech you should be informed that he let out a guttural roar at the end which set tongues wagging. Here is his howl, compared in this video to a goat.
