The start of the year (you know, post the festive season and beach days and sleeping in until midday) is made so much better with Awards Season. So. Much. Better. Truly, watching actors get tipsy on live telly and then stumble onto stage makes for great watching.
The Golden Globes were last night, and they are basically the starter portion for the Oscars in a few weeks time. If you want to watch it on your PVR later, then I’m sorry for the spoiler, but this will also give you a heads up of what you should be watching.
Right, enough of that. Here are the NB ones:
Best performance by an actor in a motion picture – Drama
Eddie Redmayne – The Theory Of Everything
Best performance by an actress in a motion picture – Drama
Julianne Moore – Still Alice
Best performance by an actor in a supporting role in a motion picture
J.K. Simmons – Whiplash
Best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a motion picture
Patricia Arquette – Boyhood
Obviously, The Grand Budapest Hotel won Best motion picture – Comedy or Musical because it was brilliant, and How to Train your Dragon won Best Animated Feature Film because it made you deliriously happy inside. Kevin Spacey also got a nod for House of Cards.
You can read the full list of winners on Deadline and you can watch the show tonight on MNet at 21H30 (Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted so it’s probably worth it just for the two of them).
