This comes as no surprise. I mean, why on earth should a R246 million structure stay intact?

Here we show you the public entrance to Nkandla. Once a R6.2 million “high-security perimeter fence”, it is now a wreck – a place where cows and goats can roam freely onto the green lawns.

“…parts of the fence [are] entirely broken and other sections patched in makeshift fashion with logs and other objects.”

The fence sports security cameras (at a cost of R1.8million) and a “kinematic fence detection system”. The SAPS recommended that such an extravagant fencing system get erected because “the president could be anywhere on site at any time”.
