You remember the wild ride that was Die Hard 2 – Die Harder ?
Well, we nearly had our own version of that famed movie…as an SAA plane nearly took off with an open oil valve (What?!)
It was only for the keen eye of a passenger on another plane that managed to alert authorities to the impending disaster.
Netwerk24 reports that Mary-Ann de Villiers, one of the passengers on board the flight, described how the aircraft had already started taxiing toward the runway when it suddenly came to a standstill.
According to the report, a passenger in a neighbouring airplane noticed the open oil valve and alert authorities.
According to De Villiers the captain announced the delay shortly after he had brought the plane to a stop and told passengers that it could have caused an explosion had they continued with take-off.
The good news is the plane was up-and-running 40 minutes later and made its destination without any more fuss.
