Yes, yes, we know that if Barbie were real the would most probably die due to her inaccurate proportions and that she portrays an “impossible to achieve” beauty, but that does not mean we would ever want what is essentially the anti-Barbie.
Graphic designer-turned-toy-maker Nickolay Lamm has gone and created the Lammily doll. It portrays a regular 19-year old girl with brown hair and comes with cellulite, freckles and acne stickers.
“I wanted to show that reality is cool,” Lamm says. “And a lot of toys make kids go into fantasy, but why don’t they show real life is cool? It’s not perfect, but it’s really all we have. And that’s awesome.”
As for the cellulite and acne addition, is it a step too far? Lamm says people will “welcome the option”. Err.
