He might be the author of a few very good novels, but when it comes to his opinions on child pornography, John Grisham does not have the most ideal outlook.
The writer has made it publicly known that he thinks the punishment for people caught watching child porn is too harsh.
“We have prisons now filled with guys my age — 60-year-old white men in prison who’ve never harmed anybody. These are people who haven’t hurt anybody. They deserve some type of punishment, whatever, but 10 years in prison?”
In the US, it is considered a federal offense to distribute or be in the possession of child pornography.
Grisham, thank goodness, did not stand up for pedophiles, saying “God, please lock those people up”.
