With TV shows like Rich Kids of Beverley Hills, and Instagram accounts for the rich kids of Instagram, it certainly is the growing trend to flaunt your wealth, even if it is mostly your parents’.
In a bid to outshine the world of the wealthy, there’s a new Instagram account to follow – the rich kids of Tehran.
With incredible poverty rife in Iran, it’s a wonder these kids are getting away with the pictures. Showing images of scantily clad women, men posing with fancy cars, gold-encrusted watches… you name it, they will show it off.
“Its shameless flaunting of material wealth and women exposing their midriffs are not typically tolerated in the fundamentalist Islamic state, a closed society where censorship runs rampant and citizens live under the boot heel of religious police”.
One of the contributors to the account had a few bold words to say:
“Every country of the world has the wealthy and the poor. I know it can be emotionally draining for some people that might not have such lives as the pictures we portray but you don’t need to follow us.”
The kids are hoping to show the Western world a part of Iran that we don’t know exists.
