Just when you thought it was safe to smoke again…
As if the gruesome health warnings on regular cigarettes weren’t bad enough, there are now warnings about your e-cigarettes.
Big cigarette companies like Altria, who make Marlboro, and MarkTen, are now putting long warnings on their e-cigs, even reminding people that smoking an e-cig is not a way to wean yourself off smoking.
“Nicotine is addictive and habit forming, and is very toxic by inhalation, in contact with the skin, or if swallowed.”
Critics are asking whether these new warnings are because companies actually care about people’s health, or if it’s a “legal safeguard or a corporate image-enhancer”.
Altria spokesman William Phelps says the brands want to “openly and honestly communicate about health effects.”
Apparently most people don’t even read the warnings…
