You know how it goes… You’re walking somewhere, your phone beeps, you must read it and respond to it RIGHT NOW or the planet might cease to exist and then BAM! You walk into a pole/tree/person/oncoming traffic. It’s so mortifying you actually, for a few seconds, wish it was oncoming traffic.
A city in China has fixed this problem. In Chongqing there are pedestrian lanes for people texting or using their phone.
In reality, the lane has been created to “remind pedestrians that it is best not to play with your phone while walking.”
“This is ridiculous, people should just be more mindful of their surroundings.”
A true comment, but sometimes we really just can’t wait to send the ‘I’ll be there in a minute’ message. Because, you know, the world might end or your friend might panic and leave if he has to wait more than 90 seconds.
People are burying their faces and minds into their smart phones. Come up for air, folks. Have a look at the sunset with your eyes and not your viewfinder.
