Once again, South Africa has denied a visa to the Dalai Lama.
He wanted to visit the country for the 14th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, which is to be held in Cape Town next month.
Other Nobel Peace Laureates have told Archbishop Desmond Tutu that they will not attend if the Dalai Lama cannot come.
“We have not heard from them yet, but I will not give up hope that our government will not humiliate the Dalai Lama again.”
Patricia de Lille has instructed Cape Town officials to contact the government to see whether his visa has been denied by the department of international relations. This is the third time in five years that the Dalai Lama has been denied entry into South Africa.
The South African government is afraid that granting a visa could disturb relations with China.
