The Burning Man festival finally got under way once rained had cleared on Tuesday, festival hippies and tech-people could finally get on with what they went there to do – burn amazing structures.

Sadly, one 29-year old won’t get to see the big man burn, after she was struck and killed by one of the mutant vehicles.

Marian Goodell, the CEO of Burning Man, expressed the festivals’ “thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and campmates”.

Alicia Louise Cipicchio is the festivals first traffic fatality in 11 years.

“The art car involved was a double-decker British bus covered in white fur and given the name Shagadelica.”

In reality, quite a few people have died over the years, from drugs, suicide and heart problems to name a few, but it is still deemed a very safe place.
