Google is pushing the implementation of its Glass technology into different applications, and another start-up is taking a similar idea and making an ambitious attempt by putting AR technology into car windshields.
Navdy is the company making use of the similar technology, which introduces augmented reality and projected HUD (heads-up display) onto the windshields of cars.
This will help to display maps, notifications and music apps in front of you, so you won’t actually have to take your eyes off of the road, and the fact that Navdy relies on voice and gesture-based commands helps a tremendous amount too.
“It’s obvious that touchscreens and nobs and buttons all force you to take your eyes off the road,” said Navdy CTO and cofounder Karl Guttag. “Theres a lot of opportunity to improve that whole experience and make the whole experience safer and more natural and intuitive.”
