A couple Sundays back there was a car alarm going off over the road from Caprice. Diners were annoyed as the they finished their lunchtime bottles of wine and prepared for sundowners. It was only after ten minutes of enduring the piercing car alarm, that patrons began noticing something moving in the car.

“Oh my God,” I said, “there are animals in the car! It’s only a matter of time before some crazy animal chicks loses her mind and smashes the car window open with a brick to give them air.” I’ve seen it before. I can’t remember when or where, but I’ve seen it happen. Come to think of it, it’s the kind of thing my aunt would do. It was probably her.

That’s when I heard a women’s gasp, “Those aren’t animals in the car – those are CHILDREN!”

Oh my God, it was just too good to be true. Someone had parked their car directly in front of Caprice, and locked their kids in the car (thus setting the car alarm – duh), on a very hot day. The alarm continued as the parents were getting hammered at a nearby eatery. You couldn’t hope for better Sunday entertainment.

The cops pulled in after 20 minutes..

Everybody sat… staring, finishing off their lunch time pinot – DYING to catch a glimpse of the parents.

It happened very swiftly and the crowd hardly had a moment to hiss before the car zoomed away, with the cops pretending to scribble down the registration. Someone definitely shouted, “Britney,” which I applauded.

Tsk. Tsk.

And so soon after the incident with the Lamborghini that parked in the handicap zone in front of Caprice, only to be emboerrissed by a cop arriving and ordering him to move it. God, the SHAME.

It’s like the social forum and testing ground for modern day moral dilemma’s.

Can I do this?

Aah, clearly not.

Can I leave these kids here?

Aah, that looks like a no-no..
