As the victims of the flight MH17 disaster slowly start to make their way home to grieving loved ones, reports have emerged of another victim claimed by the tragedy. This elderly man lost four of his loved ones in the crash, and the grief was too much for him to bear.
Mr Hendrik (Henk) Palm [93], from the northern Dutch town of Roden, died “after the indescribable grief of losing his daughter, Erla (Palm), son-in-law Rob (van der Linde) and grandchildren Merel and Mark” in the Malaysia Airlines crash, family members said in a death notice carried by De Stentor regional newspaper.
The notice, to be found on a link from the paper’s website, said Mr Palm died on Tuesday, five days after the crash that claimed the lives of 298 people including 193 Dutch citizens.
Signed by the families Palm and Bruggeman, the name of the patriarch’s deceased wife, the notice also paid tribute “in loving memory” to the family of four who died when the plane was shot down over conflict-torn east Ukraine.
There has been a huge outpouring of sympathy for this family as well as the many other’s who are mourning their lost friends and relatives. In the settling dust of this horrific tragedy we can only wish that justice is brought about for the victims of the crash and their families and that being able to lay their loved ones to rest brings some sense of closure and solace.
