3D cameras are becoming more available to the market, but it’s been a slow-burn with the pricey technology to become easily-accessible for the average user.
The Structure Sensor could change that though – acting as a consumer-targetted 3D camera that attaches to your iPad. It’s not unlike Microsoft’s Kinect sensor for the Xbox 360 console, but for tablets.
The camera can create real-time 3D maps of environments, faces or just about anything else you snap, and creator Occipital used a Kickstarter project to successfully get the funding.
So hopefully we see these bad-boys in stores sometime in the near future.
