Ulrich Roux: “Oscar’s Testimony Broke The Defence’s Case”

Oscar’s own cross-examination was always going to be a pivotal moment in the on-going trial surrounding the death of Reeva Steenkamp, and experts say that Oscar didn’t do too great while under the heat of the spotlight.

“He fared very badly during cross-examination,” said attorney Ulrich Roux. “(His testimony) was always going to make or break the case, and I think it broke the defence’s case”.

Another interesting aspect of the case that emerged last week was the “fight-or-flight” response from Pistorius, that the defence team stated was heightened during Oscar’s fear that night, resulting in his actions; but litigation attorney David Dadic was asked why he thought it was brought up so late in the trial.

“The defence, in my mind, doesn’t connect, as if it was never put together strategically before,” said Dadic.
