After Bafana Bafana’s late defeat last night I was mildly depressed. I have never seen anybody kill a vibe quite like the Yanks did with their late winner at the Cape Town stadium…
In other news the Springboks have become increasingly agitated by the number of social media impersonators that are emerging. In a brief statement on Wednesday the Bok camp warned the media – and public – to beware of “accepting at face value social media pages purporting to be produced by or on behalf of rugby personalities”.
It got me scouring the net to try to find some of the more amusing ones (fan pages included). This one in all its grammatical and parodic magnificence, Bakkies Botha is so tuff, I found particularly amusing. As you will see according to this group, Bakkies boasts an array of superhuman talents. I bet you didn’t know that he can bend time and speak Morse code.
Apparently he also caused the Augrabies waterfall river gorge with a flying tackle on Schalk Burger. The river itself was caused by Schalk Burger crying after the tackle. Who knew?
I was surprised that the group forgot to mention the fact that Bakkies “Is no tweeter” (uttered in trademark style).
But seriously I’m all for authenticity and if you’re interested, then click through to John Smit and Victor Matfield’s Twitter accounts. They’re linked with a host of other Springboks.
