The opulence and extravagance of the Royals never seems to amaze, and Queen Elizabeth’s new Diamond Jubilee State Coach is as crazy as they come; but does it have seat-warmers?
The coach features gold-plated hydraulics, “motor-racing technology” (despite the need to be pulled by horses) and even features a collection of trinkets and historical things from English history – this thing is basically a museum on wheels.
Once you look inside, of course, you have to open it via the diamond-clad door handle, you’ll find that the only thing the interior is lacking is a dinosaur bone.
The panelling includes slivers of Scott’s Antarctic sled, Sir Isaac Newton’s apple tree, Hut Six at codebreaking centre Bletchley Park, one of Sir Edmund Hillary’s Everest ladders and the beams of most of our great cathedrals.
