In addition to revealing iOS8, Apple is branching out the functionality and services of its existing features with the new Yosemite OS X.
The company delved into some details about the upcoming release; and there are 10 rad things worth noting.
1. The redesigned interface, which features semi-transparent windows.
2. Dark mode, which lets users to switch to a darker tone for their windows for heightened visibility.
3. The redesigned trashcan icon – which, while small, is shiny.
4. The snazzy new notification centre, showing calendar items, reminders, and even weather.
5. The ability to add third-party widgets, such as clocks and other cool things, to your notification centre.
6. Spotlight – which lets you search for specific things quickly and easily, and when you search for contacts, it’ll even pull their details and past conversations you’ve had.
7. Spotlight can also do conversions. Take that, Google!
8. It can direct you to food… Are you not entertained!?
9. If you’re in the mood for a movie, Spotlight will take you directly to the movie’s Wikipedia page, and even set it up to stream through iTunes, if you feel like staying in.
10. Mail Drop – which is a new feature that allows you to send those larger emails to people – up to 5GBs even! Who really needs Winzip anyway!? Mail Drop uses a third-party service to do all the compression behind the scenes, and will send the recipient a download link to access the big file.
