The old debate of whether life imitates art, or vice versa, has been thrown into another dimension this week.
I mean, it was one thing for Arnold Schwarzenegger to become the Governor of California; but for him to deliver quotes like he did this week, well…. it’s just taking the piss really.
This, From SKY News:
Ernie: Perfect Storm For LA Fires
The US governor, who has declared a state of emergency, spoke after flames gutted hundreds of homes and forced thousands to flee.

Wrong, on so many levels.
A total of around 3,700 firefighters, using helicopters, bulldozers and engines, were battling fires across the state.
More than 800 residences – ranging from multi-million-dollar mansions to modest prefabricated mobile homes – have been destroyed.
A fire that struck in Los Angeles late on Friday was described as one of the worst to hit the city in nearly half a century.
Schwarzenegger commented to the press, “With all these fires all over, this is usually what happens at this time of the year, when we have THE PERFECT STORM, which means basically we have high winds, high temperatures and very, very dry.”

Are you trying to fuck with my head, Arnie?
Did you just refer to it as “A Perfect Storm?”
Are you MAD? Do you think I’m an idiot?
I mean, we have an action movie star, turned Governor, and he is throwing around MOVIE TITLES in his speeches! WHO ARE YOU??? WHERE ARE WE???
And don’t tell me he didn’t think about it. NO-ONE used the words “The Perfect Storm” before the movie with the same title came out in 2000. And NO-ONE doesn’t think of that movie when the words are uttered. ESPECIALLY by a fucking movie star!
It’s like that one movie that he starred in, called Last Action Hero, where the young movie fan gets thrown into the movie world of his favorite action film character – Arnold.
Except this time, it’s us!
He might as well have gone on and said the storm had resulted in a “clear and present danger.”
That’s how radical it is.
That’s where we are.
