While Snapchat are turning down offers of $3 billion, it seems they’ve been doing some acquiring of their own. They’ve just bought the company AddLive. and that just happens to involve South Africa.
Oh really? How so?
Well let’s first find out a bit about AddLive:
“AddLive allows companies to quickly deploy real-time communications with minimal development time,” the company’s website states. Some of the other features AddLive offers are screen-sharing, multi-party conferencing, and support for browser-based video chat via WebRTC. The company is considered a leader in the browser-based video space, having won the “Best WebRTC Tool” in 2013 awarded by the WebRTC Conference & Expo.

The main man at AddLive is, wait for it, South African. His name is Kavan Seggie and boy has he has been around the block! His resume includes being a rock festival organiser, running a safari travel company and even a food company selling boerewors. He’s done good. Oh, and he co-founded thunda.com in 1999. Remember that website that takes pictures of kids at Tiger-Tiger and posts them online? That one. R
