Archaeologists have opened the coffin of Swedish king Erik IX, who was murdered in 1160, to examine his DNA. While that in itself is pretty awesome, the stuff they found inside his casket was better.
Yep, that’s Erik’s noggin, and one times gilded copper crown set with precious stones, my friends. What you don’t see in that pic is a small bag containing Erik’s collar bone, which looks for all money to have suffered a blow from a sword.
