Police ballistics expert Capt. Christiaan Mangena gave an explosive testimony, illustrating the last moments of Reeva Steenkamp’s life. Over the past couple of day’s Oscar Pistorius’s defense have repeatedly attacked the evidence, claiming that the police contaminated the scene. However, this was not the case when Mangena testified.

According to Capt. Mangena, Reeva was standing facing the bathroom door when she was struck by the first bullet. It hit her in the right hip, causing her to fall onto a magazine rack beside the toilet. The second bullet missed her, but the resulting shrapnel from the bullet ricocheting off the wall bruised her back.

The order of the other two bullets could not be clarified, but by this time Reeva was in a defensive position shielding her head with her arms and hands. This is why the webbing of her left hand was lacerated by the bullet that hit her in the skull. The remaining bullet hit her in the right arm, fracturing her humerus so severely it caused arterial spurting.
