We’ve all become familiar with the Holi Festival recently as the experience has been brought to South African Shores with our own Holi One Festival in Cape Town and Jozi.

For those of you who haven’t yet had the chance to run around like a hooligan with a bunch of happy hippies throwing colourful powder all over each other in the name of peace, unity, love and harmony , here is how the the bona fide citizens of beautiful India experience their Holi Fest the original way. These pics were taken in the Northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, on March 13 last year.

The Hindu spring festival of colours is observed in India at the end of winter on the last full moon of the lunar month and will be celebrated on March 16 this year. Which is two days from now – so if you are substantially inspired and suddenly want to Carpe Diem the heck out of your day,  book a last minute plane ticket and go party in Uttar Pradesh with the original Holi party people. You only live once.
