Divers Rescue Shark Tangled With Elastic Cord [RADICAL VIDEO]

With only 1500 grey nurse sharks left off the east coast of Australia, marine life veterinarians and divers rushed to the aid of one particular grey nurse shark in distress. A diver spotted the animal tangled in an elastic cord.

Using a shark-sock they netted the injured animal, after which a diver had to wrestle the shark into a stretcher in order to bring it to the surface. With a quick snip of the cord, followed by an injection of antibiotics the shark was released into the wild.

It serves as a painful reminder of the damage improperly discarded materials can cause to our environment.
