Due to its inhospitable habitat and minuscule population, the Snow Leopard rarely gets photographed. National Geographic published the first ever photo taken of the animal in the wild as recently as the 1970s – and only a handful of people have had any luck ever since.

But researchers working in the remote northern Pakistan mountains set up motion triggered cameras in the hopes of snapping shots of the elusive predators, and by Jove they did it.

An international research team with support from locals were able to obtain these images with camera traps using Snow Leopard scat as lure.
