Experts have warned English port authorities that a 30 year-old abandoned ship could be about to land on Britain’s shore.
The Lyubov Orlova, built in 1976, has been drifiting across the north Atlantic ever since it was abandoned a year ago, when its Canadian owners couldn’t make up the debt repayments.
The only passengers on board the doomed vessel nowadays are an extended family of disease-ridden, cannabalistic rats.
When the ship came loose and drifted off into the blue, Transport Canada said it was satisfied that, “the Lyubov Orlova no longer poses a threat to the safety of [Canadian] offshore oil installations, their personnel or the marine environment.”
Which they were right about. It now poses a threat to England.
Experts say the ship is still likely to contain hundreds of rats, who can only have been surviving by eating each other.
Pim de Rhoodes, a Belgian salvage hunter who is among a number looking for the Lyubov Orlova off the UK coastline, told The Sun:
She is floating around out there somewhere. There will be a lot of rats and they eat each other. If I get aboard I’ll have to lace everywhere with poison.
Yes you will, Pim. Yes you will.
