North Korea, a country that can barely keep its citizens fed, has just opened a lavish new ski resort.
It’s one of the worlds poorest countries, but the North Korea Ski Association has no qualms about welcoming a potential 5,500 local skiers, as well as hosting foreigners in a 200-guest hotel.
But just some time ago, this was the very same multi-million dollar project that had barely any slopes, any snow, or any people.
So, in many ways, it was a success. But in many other ways – it’s a very expensive insult to the basic rights of all the other 24 million North Korean citizens.
