Humour is one of the best ways of dealing with kak news. The proposed Secrecy Bill is kak news. So, Right2Know is hosting a night of comedy and biting satire along with some of South Africa’s best comedians.
The Right2Know Campaign launched in August 2010 as a coalition of organisations and people responding to the Protection of State Information Bill (basically raising awareness about how stupid it is and demanding that it stops before it starts) and now they’re taking a less serious approach to the whole thing.
The event is called LAUGH IN THE FACE OF SECRECY, and is hosted by the magnanimous Rob Van Vuuren. Acts include stand-up performances from: Nathi, Yaseen Barnes, KG and Schalk Bezuidenhout, followed by satire with writer Tom Eaton and local Youtube star Anne Hirsch. Expect witty politicised surprises.
