A somewhat controversial decision this year, you might say – given the upcoming weather for Tuesday and Wednesday. But you simply can’t ignore Sunday’s summer fever, with a repeat of that weather happening today.
2oceansvibe’s summer declaration is given when a few requirements have been met. These exact requirements and elements are kept secret, but the ‘algorithm’ does include analysis of the upcoming weather report, as well as general common sense. If yesterday’s weather had happened, say, on a Tuesday, we would not have been compelled to declare summer open, as tomorrow and the next day is 18 degrees (min 12) and raining. A hot day on a Tuesday, which can only be shared by students and people who have their shit together (living the holiday – out and about – phone not ringing etc.) doesn’t create the overwhelming excitement required to consider a declaration.
But the fact that we all jointly experienced that mental weather on a Sunday, with the likes of Camps Bay and Cafe Caprice going completely off the charts in terms of summer buzz, makes it difficult to ignore. It’s almost our duty to declare summer open when spirits are so high. To deny it may well result in suicide.
We don’t want that.
Check out these pics I took for you (I used the Vespa, thank God), including one of the Starship Enterprise house being built on Kloof Road.
And welcome to Summer, friends. But be warned, there will be some rains in November.. Read about that here.
