If you’re expecting the iPad 5 to be a revolutionary device that will change the way we do everything – think again. Yes, it will be new, and nice, and sexy and you will want one – but like the release of the iPhone 5s, Apple has taken the “evolution rather than revolution” approach – which can be summarised in three words: thinner, smaller, lighter.
With the roaring success of the iPad mini, Apple has looked to make the iPad a little less chunky, and a little smaller. This will obviously be coupled with a faster processor – and those black borders on the sides that used to make the iPad look like a framed photograph have been scaled down considerably to produce a very sleek new look.
The 3rd and 4th generation iPads were actually thicker than the iPad 2, but with the 5th generation Apple has again taken inspiration from the mini. The mini used more advanced screen technology than was available for the iPad 4, but now they’re gonna chuck that into the 5 in order to produce an iPad that’s actually thinner than it’s predecessor.
