Check out this list of awesome historical sites and secretive spots that you can’t visit. Even if you really want to, too bad, you can’t.

1. Lascaux Caves – In Southwest France, these caves boast Paleolithic cave paintings that are about 20,000 years old. In 1948, the caves actually did open up to tourists, but the constant breathing of these visitors, started to damage the paintings, so tourists have been locked out, and only a few hand selected scientists get to see these amazing paintings.

2. Ise Grand Shrine — In Ise, Japan, this shrine is dedicated to Amaterasu, the Sun goddess, and is the countries most sacred shrine. The shrine has existed since 4 B.C. and is only accessible by priests, priestesses of the imperial family. The public can only see the roofs, and one of Japan’s most important objects live there: a sacred mirror called Yata no Kagami.

3. Club 33 –  Unless you are super rich and super famous, you can’t go here. Based in Anaheim, California, in the heart of Disneyland. It is decorated by antiques hand chosen by Walt Disney. It costs $10,000 (R102,021) a year to be a member at this club, plus a $25,000 (R255, 052) initiation fee, even if you can afford this, you have to be invited. The club received international attention last year when they extended invites to 100 new members, they haven’t done this in over a decade.

4. Metro 2 – Underneath Moscow, Russia. You can’t visit this supposed underground city and subway, because Russian agencies won’t confirm or deny the existence of it. It is rumoured that Joseph Stalin built this underground system for use by Russian secret service and government officials.

5. Mount Weather – In Virginia, U.S. is a secret bunker, just like the ones you’ve seen in every zombie apocalypse movie. It is an underground complex, completed in 1958. It has a sprawling bunker complete with mainframe computers, air circulation pumps, and a TV and radio studio for post-nuclear presidential broadcasts.
