We all hate queuing for beer. Some lucky folks at Oppikoppi didn’t have to though, thanks to the beer delivering drone. (Note: beer, not bomb.) If you were at Oppi this weekend, all you had to do was download an app, order your beer of choice, and this octo-copter would fly up into the sky and drop a special delivery brewski above your head – the beer is attached to a parachute to avoid killing you of course.
The drone, nicknamed “Manna” after the biblical story where bread fell from the sky to feed the Israelites travelling through the desert, gets your GPS coordinates through the satellite chip in your phone. It was a big hit at the festival, as you can imagine, with the crowd cheering on every paratrooper beer floating down to its thirsty recipient.
Check out the video of the test-run they did before the festival. Next year they should deliver boerewors rolls too!
